Birth Control | Contraception

Due to the wide range of contraception options available, it can be unclear as to which method best applies to you, your health, lifestyle and circumstances. To make an informative decision that best suits you, come and see us or your local GP to get the prescription.

Implanon

Implantable rod insertion and removal.
An implanon is a white plastic rod that is inserted under the skin of the inner, upper arm to stop pregnancy by slowly releasing a progestogen hormone into the body. It is an extremely effective method of contraception (99.95%). The out of pocket cost for the insertion of this is $50, and to remove is $50.

IUD Hormonal or Copper

Hormonal Intrauterine Device insertion
A IUD can provide long term birth control. The device is a T-Shaped plastic frame that is inserted into the uterus, where it releases a type of the hormone progestin. It prevents pregnancy for up to five years after insertion. It can be removed at any time and it can decrease menstrual bleeding after three months of use. The out of pocket cost of this procedure is $150, and the removal fee is $50.

Birth control pills are a kind of medicine with hormones. Birth control pills come in a pack, and you take 1 pill every day. The pill is safe, affordable, and effective if you take your pill on time. You can discuss with our GP’s which pill is right for you. A prescription is required. Birth control injections are also an option, this is an injection that is given every three months
IMPORTANT: Two appointments are required for our IUD and Implanon insertions, the first appointment is so you and the GP can discuss which method of contraception is right for you and a second appointment can be made for the procedure.
